This is my rendition of H.P. Lovecraft's Daemon shepard and his "cattle" in the short story, "The Rats in the Walls." In the story, an ancient cannibalistic cult residing under ground bred and ate fungous human-like pigs.
The rats put a stop to all this. The final horror was that a few months after the 11th baron slew his family and fled, the rats poured out of the castle and terrorized the villages around. They had eaten all the beast-men and their shepherds, and having no food left...
The fungous creatures WERE humans, but of a deeply degenerated stock that was quadruped. I think this pic captures the damnable dream that Mr. de la Poer kept having.
Love it. This is really great stuff. That story is incredibly unnerving, and this is coming from someone who is, for the most part, desensitized to most horriffic/disturbing things. i love the way you made the "cattle", too. i've had a tough time visualizing just how grotesque they would end up looking, but i think you've about captured it.
The Artist: Actually it is from a collection of short stories, and you can find most of them online. But if you'd like to purchase the book its from, it's called "Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror and the Macabre." H.P. Lovecraft.
